The theme for this year’s event was “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld,” emphasizing the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for menstrual hygiene.
PAD A GIRL-CHILD Initiative
The 2025 edition, titled PAD A GIRL-CHILD, was specifically dedicated to Junior Secondary School and Junior Secondary School Gaba FCT. The outreach event took place on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, marking a significant effort in promoting menstrual hygiene education and support among young girls.
Highlights of the Outreach
The outreach featured several key activities aimed at empowering young girls and raising awareness about menstrual hygiene:
– Menstrual Hygiene Education: The event focused on educating students about the importance of menstrual hygiene, dispelling myths, and providing accurate information. This was aimed at encouraging a healthy and informed approach to menstruation.
– Distribution of Sanitary Products: As part of the initiative, sanitary products were distributed to the students. This effort was crucial in ensuring that girls have access to necessary hygiene products, reducing absenteeism and promoting confidence during their menstrual periods.
– Interactive Sessions: In addition to educational talks, interactive sessions were held where students could ask questions and share their experiences. These sessions were designed to foster an open and supportive environment, allowing girls to feel comfortable discussing menstrual health.
Impact and Future Goals
The outreach was a significant step towards creating a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. By providing education and resources, the initiative aimed to empower girls to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence. The event also served as a platform to advocate for better menstrual health policies and practices in schools.
Moving forward, the collaboration between Go Educate Them International Initiative, Empowered Girls For Christ Foundation, and Menstrual Hygiene Day seeks to expand its reach, aiming to impact even more schools and communities. The goal is to ensure that every girl has access to the knowledge and resources necessary for a healthy menstrual experience, ultimately contributing to gender equality and the empowerment of young women globally.
